In the News: Lawmakers serve as ‘Principal for a Day’ at P.H. Miller Elementary

Two local lawmakers went back to school on Tuesday to act as “Principal for a Day” at P.H. Miller Elementary School in Plano.
State Rep. David Welter, R-Morris, and U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, visited the school, and were led on a tour through several classrooms by Principal Laurel Mateyka.
The lawmakers started their day by helping first-graders from Renee Miller’s classroom to recite the Pledge of Allegiance over the school’s PA system, followed by a stop at the school’s collegiate reading corners, a program at the school of which Mateyka is especially proud…
