Seventeen members of the Morris Community High School Class of 2020 are among hundreds of teens across the state to be named as Illinois State Scholars. State Representative David Allen Welter visited the school to award each Illinois State Scholar with a commemorative certificate and congratulate them on their achievement.
Illinois State Scholars are outstanding high school seniors who are recognized for their superior academic achievement. Illinois State Scholars, who rank in approximately the top 10% of graduates from Illinois high schools, are selected annually based on their ACT and SAT exams and sixth semester class rank.
The State Scholar designation also suggests that these students will also likely be successful in the colleges or universities they choose to attend.
The State Scholars from Morris Community High School are Benjamin Doss, Michael Escobedo, Elaina Frobish, Daniel Grant, Andrew Hipes, Colby Kingsbury, Justin Mann, Sophie Mennenga, Avery Newsom, Mara Punke, Simone Robinson-Stevens, Macy Rodgers, Kaylee Roether, Jared Schneider, Sophia Shaw, Marissa Trobl and Makenna Wills.
