State Representative David Allen Welter, R-Morris, invites local families to attend a free Outside Kids’ Safety Expo and Diaper Drive to benefit We Care of Grundy County from 9:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. on Saturday, August 28 at Morris Elementary School, located at 2001 Dupont Avenue.
The Outside Kids’ Safety Expo features over 35 state and local agencies, non-profit organizations and local businesses covering a wide range of educational, health and child care, recreational and community services for families and children. Special attractions include the popular Touch-A-Truck exhibit featuring over a dozen trucks located in the parking lot and the LIFESTAR medical helicopter landing at 10:00a.m. FREE kids’ haircuts will also be offered just in time for back-to-school.
“As parents, my wife and I value the countless individuals and organizations in our community who offer programs and services that help kids to grow, learn, and explore many interests,” said Representative Welter. “Our Outside Kids’ Safety Expo showcases the tremendous resources and activities available to kids right here in our own backyard. I encourage every local family to stop by and check out all that our community has to offer.”
Admission to the event is FREE with complimentary refreshments and a drawing for giveaways.
Information will be available on topics such as bicycle safety, after-school activities, nutrition, the Illinois State Treasurer’s I-Cash program and more. Face Painting will also be offered.
Demonstrations include Donna Mueller’s School of Dance at 9:30a.m., the Traveling World of Reptiles Show at 10:00a.m., Chang Lee Taekwon Martial Arts at 11:30a.m. and the Grundy County Sheriff K-9 Unit demonstration at Noon. A drawing for giveaways will take place at 12:30p.m.
Guests are encouraged to bring a box of diapers (any size) and/or container of baby wipes for the Diaper Drive. All diapers and baby wipes collected will go to We Care of Grundy County.
